Volleyball in PE-class

Volleyball in PE-class – Game and fun for all students (age 6-18) | The basics: set, dig, serve | Applying basic techniques in a match / on a court | Volleyball in 10 steps | Mini-volleyball at school |
Age: 30 years old

About me:

My passion for sports started at the age of six, doing a short track training with the local group. 24 years later my passion for sports is still the same and I hope it will always be. However, the sports that I practiced changed from time to time, sometimes more and sometimes less voluntary. Maybe it’s the variety of experiences that on one hand motivates me to develop new coaching and teaching strategies, and on the other hand helps me finding them. During the last years I worked a lot on new settings for volleyball in sports clubs and at school.

Contents – Volleyball in PE-class – Game and fun for all students (Age 6-18)

In the individual parts of the course new, varied forms of exercise and match are presented. It’s all about learning or improving technique and tactics with fun, as well as training the coordination. The focus is based on: as much movement as possible, as many ball contacts and as many successful experiences as possible for each individual student. Team spirit is the central element of all exercises and games.

The idea behind everything is that volleyball is big fun! Yes, but unfortunately only if played on a certain level. At school you may often have various levels in one class. A few students are really good players, while the majority play at a mediocre level and some students can barely catch a ball, let alone set dig or serve a ball in an accurate way. If you stick to classical training methods (which work perfectly in the club!) with students, it can happen that the “strong or good guys” quickly get bored because they are underchallenged, while the “less skillful guys” are overchallenged with even rather simple exercises. You may find a similar situation when you take over the group with the youngest children in the volley club. Kids whose big brothers or sisters have already taught them everything, stand next to those who do not know that the ball should cross the net and land into the opposing playing field. Some learn fast, others slower. So, what should you do in order to make everyone enjoy and have progress at the same time? These courses try to show new methods that make it possible to inspire all pupils of a class for this sport, not only the good ones or the particularly gifted ones, at best in a very short time.

Unit 1 The basics – set, dig, serve: learning and improving basic techniques.
Unit 2 Applying basic techniques in a match / on a court (from 2:2 to 6:6).
Unit 3 Volleyball in 10 steps. Possible methodical setup to come to the original volleyball-game 6:6 within 10 lessons working with a school class (age 12-14 years, court size 18×9m).
Unit 4 Minivolleyball at school. Exercises and games for 6 to 10-year-old kids during school lessons.
