Li Hong (Leo) Hsu

Leo Hsu is Professor at National Taiwan University of Sport(NTUS). He is also the Dean at Liberal Arts Centre and CEO of Olympic Education Centre at NTUS. He has been teaching swimming for many years since 1986 and still competing at international/national level for master swimming/water polo events around the World. Currently, Leo is still the national swimming Champion in his age group on 50 Fly and 50 free. Leo received his PhD at Leeds University, UK in 2003. and developed his teaching/research career as an expert in sports/coaching philosophy and Olympic Education. In 2021, he established the first Olympic Education Centre/Museum in Taiwan at NTUS. The aims of this centre are to promote World Peace through Olympic Education and physical activities.
Lesson Overview
Swimming Butterfly
This lesson is especially designed for those who are good at basic swimming skills. The aim of this lesson is to give those PE teacher in a more advanced knowledge about how to swim butterfly more properly/faster and more beautifully. I will explain and demonstrate first a few techniques (biomechanics )on the ground as dryland skills. Then, we will go into water to practice with different drills, including fluttering kick, arms movement and breathing technique, etc. At the last stage, we will synthesize all the drills into a proper butterfly swimming and to run a fun relay event!
