Miko has been teaching at St. Michaels College School in Toronto Canada for close to 30 years. Within the school he teaches PHE and coaches school teams. Outside school he has coached young children to youths in both soccer and baseball. As well, he has had the opportunity to participate and instruct internationally at conferences in Hungary, Austria, Estonia, Finland, and Italy. He is looking forward to once again, participate, learn, and teach at MALS!

Come learn and play Flag Football, making its Olympic debut in 2028!! In this introductory lesson, students will have the opportunity to learn how to throw and catch a football through the progression of simple drills. Basic receiving patterns, like slants, come-back, curls, and go routes will be demonstrated. Rules specific to flag football will be introduced through mini games.
This second lesson will review the concepts demonstrated in Lesson 1. We will progress from mini games into regular games with proper field dimensions. Further rules such as downs, scoring and penalties will be explained. Strategies and tactics will also be discussed. Depending on interest, a mini tournament will be organized!
What do you get when you mix the games of rugby and soccer?? You get an exciting and high-spirited hybrid game that is great for young students in physical education classes. This is a game that allows students of various abilities and skills in either soccer - feet/head, or rugby-throwing, to combine them for this fast-paced game. Simple rules will be introduced with a quick progression into a game where after some play, basic concepts and strategies will be suggested.
Played in many physical education classes, invasion games involve two teams invading or entering an opponent's territory or endzone while defending their own. They are great for young students because they are action packed and require teamwork and strategic play. A variety of games will be introduced and played in this lesson. Content of the lesson will include: * Tactical understanding of a variety of games * Team building and skill development * Development of offensive and defensive strategies * Development of individual and team strategies * Adaptations to the various games that account for age and numbers of participants
Combining the ability of throwing a disk with the challenges of navigating the obstacles of a golf like course has made this physical recreation one of the fastest growing sports in recent years. This first lesson will introduce the types of disks unique to the sport and demonstrate the various throwing techniques. Through simple drills students will have the opportunity to try and practice with the disks. A small 3-hole course will allow students to get an idea of the sport.
This second lesson will start with a quick review of Lesson 1 for any new students. A 9-hole course will be designed in and around the stadium allowing participants to compete in a competition for low-score of the day! Prizes for top performers will be awarded at the end of the tournament!
